Local freight.

Friday evening and BX-5 has gathered the empties from Newton Upper Falls and Needham's Industrial Center. (The empty flats were picked up at the Caterpillar dealer in Needham Heights.) Slipping past Farm Street station in Medfield, the hope is to reach Medfield Junction, in time to be let out on the Mansfield- Framingham main ahead of the usually heavy BL-1.

Wow - didn't realize how much freight business was served by the Upper Falls/Needham Heights branch. I'm curious where the Caterpillar dealer was located - someplace near rte 128? And was there a produce distributor that received the yellow Fruit Growers Express insulated box cars? Great photo!
