Six months into Penn Central; a mid day Boston bound Shoreliner stops at Needham Junction. Long before there were second family cars and suburban branch department stores, housewives used these trains to go shopping "in town". Visits to Jordan Marsh and Kennedy's would include Filenes and lunch at its Salad Bowl.
