One of the Sperry Rail Service's ageless inspection cars patrols the MBTA/B&M Fitchburg line between Ayer and Shirley, MA, looking for hidden cracks in the rails with ultrasound and magnetic sensors. Sperry 134 was built by the St. Louis Car Company as a gas-electric motor car for the Seaboard in 1928 and came to Sperry in 1945.
