One of the first signs of Penn Central's takeover of the New Haven was the appearance of GG1s in NH territory as the ex-PRR motors were assigned to Penn Station trains. GG1 4923 faced off with a string of NH "washboard" MUs at New Haven Motor Storage five days into the new era.
