Bad Day In Natick

The new Penn Central had a "service interruption" on the former NYC/B&A at Natick,MA on this cold January 1969 day. Fortunately they had just acquired the services of the New Haven's Providence steam powered wrecker, the D101, to help set things back on the rails. They are lifting PC U30C #6539, still in PRR paint. They would next work on the ex-PRR SD-40 #6045.

Great Shot. Ron 6539 is a U30C. Ph1. Classed GF-30a. The PRR. had originally five of these Nos. 6535 to 6539. Classed GF-30. Built in 1967. The U28C's had the exact car body and were numbered. 6520 to 6534. Classed GF-28. built in 1966.

I yield to Warren, who knows his PRR engines a lot better than I do! Both corrections made to the caption.
