Charging Across The Viaduct

Penn Central E-8 #4249 charges across the Canton Viaduct with Train #3, The Manhattan, in tow 60 feet above the East Branch of the Neponset. This amazing structure has been serving for an incredible 184 years at this writing. Considering that the basic structure has survived to accommodate loads and dynamics that are many multiples of the demands put on it by the trains of almost 200 years ago is a great tribute to the original builders.
