Time Running Out

Time is running out for train service from New through Vermont in these endless days of train-off petitions before Amtrak. Here at Bellows Falls, Vermont it may have been a topic of conversation between train crew and onlookers. The US Mail truck is there to receive the sorted mail from the Railway Post Office car, the last RPO route left in northern New England. A shiny CNR coach brings up the rear and is properly completed with kerosene markers, Train #75, the northbound Ambassador, still affectionately known on its return run as "The Bootlegger", will be no more in a few days.
