A Number - Not A Name

Train 427 is all that is left of the afternoon New England States here shown at Riverside. At least some tradition remains in that E-8 #4020 retains her New York Central livery. Direct Boston-Chicago service did not get restored until Amtrak restarted it in 1975 under the name Lake Shore Limited.

Photographed by Ron DeFilippo, 1970.
Added to the photo archive by Ron DeFilippo, March 24, 2019.
Railroad: Penn Central.
