A few years ago I stayed in the caboose at Chester station for two nights. I was amazed by the number of trains that passed. There weren't as many during the day, but night was a bonanza of action. At one point, unless I was dopey from just waking up, I saw two trains eastbound on the parallel tracks, passing Chester at the same time. Chester had a roundhouse for pushers going west up Washington Hill, and the trains coming east there are first seen by the headlights shining on the rails before you hear the rumble of the train. A great place to camp.
