New England Central Preparing to Cross CSX at Palmer, MA

The conductor on New England Central's Palmer local job (603?) is using the new control box with the white instructions (see John Barlow's photo of the northbound box) to request permission to bring most of NECR 611's train from Brattleboro into the yard at Palmer. NECR 3476 (SD40M-2) and NECR 3857 (GP38AC), the latter still in its original NECR colors, are working the Palmer local. They have already switched 2 blocks of cars off the front of 611's train into the yard to the right in the photo above, 4 center beams of lumber (local delivery), and a long cut of close to 20 cars, including about 10 gonds of granite blocks, apparently bound for CSX. The rest of the train will shortly cross CSX into the main yard south of the CSX crossing.
