The "New" Look

For a railfan just starting out in New England at the beginning of the 60's , "chop nosed" power was a novelty. especially on the B&M with GP-9's being the modern power on most of the through freights, at least on the Fitchburg Division. Here B&M GP-18 #1754, one of only six on the roster, slumbers inside the Boston (actually E. Somerville) roundhouse on a cold December night.

Photographed by Ron DeFilippo, December, 1968.
