Concord Junction

A westbound through freight headed by B&M GP-9 #1736 crosses Main Street, West Concord (originally Concord Junction) on a snowy winter day. The street plow has only made one pass of the road here so far. Penn Central still operates a daily freight to and from Lowell that crosses the B&M Fitchburg Division here. The extra high 3-light interlocking signal protects the rail crossing.

This was one of my favorite places in the early 60’s!! Hayes shoe store is just out of the picture. That’s where I got the bejesus scared out of me by a passing train in 1957 when I was a year old. Been loving 🥰 B&M trains ever since!!!....
