NA-1 / 317 by MPN 28 in Manchester

Here was the NA-1 Crew taking their 13 car train north through the Millyard in Manchester, late yesterday afternoon around dusk.

MEC 317 has been the current road power for the Nashua Crews since mid December. Great horns on this one!

This is the second MEC locomotive numbered as 317, the first 317 was an Alco S4. This GP40 was built in November 1968 for Penn Central (#3210) then Conrail (#3210), acquired by Guilford in November 1995, and still in business today.

Wow. Fifty plus years on this locomotive. Quite a feat. I wonder how many others nationwide have passed the 50-year mark.

All of Pan Am's remaining 300 series GP40 locomotives have passed half century mark. Well beyond Pam Am, there are lots of 50+ year old locomotives in service. Many have seen a rebuild, while many have not. I enjoy seeing your pictures Ron !
