This footpath connects that track to the Rhode Island Department of Transportation land that borders the track and Americas Cup Avenue. It has provided easy access for Old Colony & Newport Railway volunteers to assist in maintaining the track and clearing debris from the roadway.
It also provides easy access for the local law enforcement agencies which oversee the area.
