Deep in the New River Valley

I seem to have an attraction to bucolic areas in railroading that are so amazingly scenic and beautiful, sometimes not so "comfortable"...such as my fascination with the Hoosac Tunnel. Earlier this day at Thurmond, WV, we were approached by a local dangerous-looking guy in nothing but a pair of torn jeans, eyes bulging out of his sweaty head, loudly announcing about his search for his next bail of weed! Thurmond today, on the old C&O main, is regarded as a "near ghost town", with a rough history of banking and brothels, although it is a state park with some restoration, and an Amtrak flag stop!
