G&U Last Mile Build-out status

As of Sunday 6/7/20, only a few hundred yards of track need to be constructed at Milford to connect G&U to the moribund CSX Milford Branch. All track west of Vernon St to current end of operable track at Hopedale has been laid and ballasted and is in the process of having moguls removed. Top 2 photos show the turnout and the planned siding turnout from the G&U connection. Upper right photo shows original G&U track still in the S Cedar St pavement. Bottom 2 photos show the current island of track that must be connected at Vernon St and S Cedar St. Golden spike time!

Visitor Comments about this Photo:

I couldn't get into the yard during the work week. It seems strange that they would start from the middle and build out to the ends. They brought the rails on flatbed to Vernon Street and dragged them into the yard. Why not build from Vernon Street so that they could bring the flatbeds into the yard?
