NEGS with MEC 354 Passing the Northfield Passenger Station

On New England Southern's just under 22 miles of home rails, one would expect to see New England Southern's shiny yellow SW1500 passing by the historic Northfield NH Passenger Station now a private residence. NEGS movement of the tank cars to 3M is a normal happening, the power being used makes for a very rare and unusual sighting.

New England Southern's SW1500 is in the Burlington shops of new owner Vermont Railway getting the once over. "NEGS 2.0" has been without an engine since mid August.

The NEGS Crew got use of a 3000 hp Pan Am GP40 to get those tank cars delivered to their client, 3M in Tilton. The blue 354 looked pretty sharp on these rails as the NEGS Crew took their train north in the late afternoon sun.

The area shown in this picture was the waiting room. There was also plenty of room for the station master to live, back in the day. Lots of leaves this time of year hinder opportunities to get good picture of both the station and a passing train.

I would doubt any of the former original B&M GP40-2's ran this far north, as by the time those appeared in the latter part of 1970s, the White Mountain Branch was already owned by the State of NH.

This was about as unusual and rare of a sighting to occur on "These New Hampshire Rails"
