NA-1 501 w/ 502 at River Road in Bow

Usually the Nashua Crews operate with a single engine, though for the second time in 2020, the Nashua Crews came north with two engines. To make this article a little more interesting, not only was this the second time with two engines, but the second time with two consecutively numbered engines. 353 & 354 were used in September, and this was Friday afternoon (11/6) with two GP40-2L(w) units featuring 501 & 502. While this was 502's second time in 2020 on these NH Rails, it's been many years since 501 has been through Bow.

This is the River Road Crossing in Bow, looking south is Ciment Quebec, a major client on the Northern Main. At this time, the NA-1 Crew was pulling south with a combination of CQ empties and loads. The loaded CQ cars would be shoved back onto the Perini Siding behind the Picture Taker, and then the Crew would hook up to the remaining non-Ciment Quebec empties that were left on the main. The Crew would then head south from Bow and make it as far as the south end of Manchester Yard, where the crew change took place.

<BR>We may not see a lot of trains along the Northern Main, compared to other parts of the Pan Am system, but it is still very interesting just the same.
