Heavy Haul in Portsmouth

I checked out the specialty railcars loaded with massive concrete structures in the Portsmouth yard.

They are manufactured by Kasgro in New Castle PA and are 80 feet long and rated for 425,000 lbs. Each car has 8-axles, 36 inch wheels and BIG brakes.

Does anybody have any idea where these are going? These look to be junction boxes for a sewer . An unidentified Portsmouth City Yard employee ,that I spoke to very briefly , said they are not for a Portsmouth City Wastewater project .

There are only two places these cars can go from here: Newington NH or the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Kittery Maine. The shipyard is building a new dry dock and that's where the steel on flats passing through Portsmouth is headed. It is hauled to a siding near the Sarah Long Bridge and then taken by barge across the river to the shipyard.

My guess is that the concrete structures are part of that project.
