Palmer's Conrail Glory Days #14 - TV Train into Passing Track

The eastbound CR 'TV' series intermodal train lead by CR 6098 (C40-8) from my previous photo heads into the passing track at Palmer to meet the westbound mixed freight headed by CR 6562 (C30-7a) which had already completed its pickup in the yard here before the southbound Vermonter and had been waiting to go west while the Vermonter headed west over the single track to Springfield and CR 6098 returned over that track to Palmer after the Vermonter cleared. I suspect CR 6562's train held the main to allow the Vermonter unrestricted access to the west end of the passing track where it reversed directions to head for Springfield. Otherwise putting the TV train down the siding for the mixed freight with local work does not make a lot of sense.
