EDPO 7643 by CPF-BY in LowellWhile patiently waiting for M427 CSXT 470 with the opportunity for one final look of the FP9 "Sisters" and Pan Am's OCS equipment, my attempt came up woefully short. M427 didn't pass through Lowell until way after sunset,,
However, a very long EDPO, with all four locomotives facing east was a more than a satisfactory catch, especially with this 4th engine in the lineup.. MEC 3400, along with rest of the 3400's and C40-8W's tend to be used from East Deerfield to the West End, as they are equipped with the I-ETMS for use on CP trackage. MEC 3400 arrived in late 2015 to Pan Am. This Canadian GMD SD40-2 was built new for Quebec North Shore & Labrador in March of 1972.
This EDPO lineup was powered by C40-8's #7643 and #7561, and B40-8 #5966. 3400 was not running as they passed the CPF-BY signals just east of the Meadowcroft Street crossing in Lowell, early yesterday evening.
