MEC 505 Near Mile Post 43 in Bow

It was an interesting sight, as the early morning fog had burned off to the north of here, but was still rather thick looking south. Here was MEC 505 (GP40-2Lw) along with 14 loads and 5 empties that headed for Concord when the NA-1 Crew arrived later that morning.

This was 505's first 2022 sighting on "These NH Rails". 505 is one of only three of the blue painted Pan Am 500 series to display the famous Pan Am Blue Meatball logo on the nose, 504 which is very common to these rails and 506 which has not been sighted here in well over a decade. This is the second version of Pan Am paint for 505, as 505 and also 511 were painted in the first rendition of Pan Am paint, known far and wide as the "Smurfs" due to the lighter shade of blue paint.

With 505 having the modern hardware (ATC & ACSES) to run on MBTA tracks, The chances of 505 being assigned to either the Lawrence or Boston locals after it's week in the Granite State are pretty good.
