Bird on the Wire

On a dreary April day in 2013, Pan Am's FP9A PAR 1 accelerates a PV "Extra" west out of Ayer. Both the wire and the bird are now long gone.

A fan trip to the Hoosac Tunnel and beyond if I recall correctly.

Indeed this was a High Iron sponsored fan trip from Boston North Station to Mechanicville featuring ex-Empire Builder super dome "Prairie View" in GN livery, ex-ATSF Big Dome in IC (!) livery, ex-Frisco sleeper Cimarron River, ex-L&N sleeper "Plantation Pine" renamed "Colorado Pine by SLRG, and ex-Frisco sleeper "Pierre Laclede" rebuilt into business car PV named "Caritas". Trip apparently ran one way and patrons were bused back to metro Boston. Here's a thread discussing the fan trip: https://railroad.net/passenger-excursion-on-pan-am-southern-april-2013-t129862.html
