BML#50 Locomotive Inspection Record posted in cabThe USDOT Federal Railroad Administration "Locomotive Inspection and Repair Record" (FORM FRA F6180-49A) posted in the cab of BML#50, a GE 70-ton diesel-electric switcher owned and operated by the Belfast & Moosehead Lake RR in Waldo County, ME. While this form lists it as having been built in 1949, BML#50 is actually three years older having been delivered new to the B&MLRR in November, 1946 and never leaving the road's 33 mile grade since then. During those 67 years this still running veteran has put in more than a million miles while never running faster than 20mph over the 142-year old grade located entirely within Waldo County, the equivalent of more then two round trips to the Moon.
