Photo of On the Watuppa
On the Watuppa

The Watuppa Branch of the New Haven (now run by the Bay Colony) ran westward from New Bedford to Fall River, MA and at one time served most of the mills in Fall River. Today the last 3 miles into Fall River have been abandoned and the branch ends in Westport at Mid City Scrap where the Bay Colony keeps its GP-9. The railroad operates on Tuesday afternoons with the BC working east to the CSX wye in New Bedford. After years of deferred maintenance, the Watuppa is a broken down roller coaster of a branch. Here the engine switches Colonial Beverage in Dartmouth, MA.
