VIA RAIL Advance Train, Jackman, Me., .....No. 1 VIA RAIL's Atlantic Ltd., lead by FP4A 6772 on a special pre-inaugural run, prepares to stop at Jackman, Me., greeted by a large crowd upon the station platform. During the stop, the train became available for display, before continuing east over CP RAIL to New Brunswick. Other stops in Maine were made at Greenville and Brownville J'c't.
The Atlantic, Trains #'s 11 / 12 ( Montreal - Halifax ) was one of the routes cut nationally by VIA to Canadian passenger services in November 1981 but was one of five restored June 01st, 1985.
The Atlantic was regularly scheduled thru here westbound @ 02 47 hrs and eastbound @ 00 21 hrs. It made its last runs mid December 1994. Photographed by Brian Barchard, May 23, 1985.
