Backing on to the Gilt EdgeFL-9 #2032 and sister back on to the Gilt Edge at South Station Boston in the fading light of a winter afternoon in the last month of New Haven operation. The "K" semaphore is still set in the clear position to allow the move but will momentarily be changed to stop and ultimately the outbound semaphore will be dropped to indicate clear for the "Edge's" departure. Within a month the new boss will be Penn Central and the Gilt Edge will be no more in another month after the PC takes over. The USPS facility seen under construction in the background will be a further blow to sorting mail en route in the Railway Post Office cars.
