Photo of G&U Hopedale Yard
G&U Hopedale Yard

Here's a view of G&U's current operable end of track at Hopedale Yard from the rte 16 crossing. MP15AC leaser is tied onto a string of presumably empty stone cars used to build out the connection to CSX at Milford. Also in this compact yard but not in the frame of this photo were G&U's 89' circus flat loaded with several strings of rail and a few stacks of ties so more track building is in the offing!

Are the Railrunner cars still around?

On 6/25 I watched them loading the old railroad ties and other debris into some of those cars. Time for clean up I think.

I have not seen the railrunner cars since they finished the track to Milford. I suspect they were rented short term. I now see a lot of hopper ncars lining up between Milford and Hopedale to be used to haul away debris from the removal of part of the Draper Mills building considered unsafe.

Hoppers not for debris, they were empty ballast cars being returned. They went out via the new Milford connection.
