Sad to See Them GoWell, they finally came for "my" signals at Ayer Interlocking. Sometime in the 40s the old semaphores gave way to GRS Type SA searchlight signals This was really an analog of the semaphore where an internal mechanism would position different colored "spectacles" across a light beam. This mechanism would seem to create a fascinating "bounce" when the indication changed. Now a triangular arrangement of uniquely colored LED signal heads does the job brilliantly, instantaneously, simply and maintenance free. They should be raising up the new signal mast any day now and taking down the old GRS sentinal.
