ex-MBTA F10 on Q384 on 11/02/2002 near Cumberland, MDI was surfing alt.binaries.pictures.rail the other day when I found this little gem. It's a shot of an ex-MBTA F10 dead in tow enroute to Cumberland, MD. It was cut in just behind the Q390's road power. Q390 runs between Chicago and Cumberland.
The photographer was told that the engine was enroute to the "Potomac Eagle Railroad near Romney Wva". Can anyone confirm? Anyone know this engine's road no? If you know anything about the move, kindly send a note to livesteamer@zekedev.com
'Hey, Joe, can I post your photo?' Joe sez: "Not a problem feel free to use the photo ..."
[Archive Maintainer Note: The consensus on the NERAIL mailing list seems to be that this is ex-MBTA #1101. It was built in 1946 as Alton Railroad F3A 800, then became Gulf, Mobile and Ohio 800A. It was rebuilt as an "F10" in 1977 and became MBTA 1101. MBTA retired it in 1992 and it then went to the Cape Cod Railroad and sat in Hyannis in faded MBTA purple, serving as a parts source for the other two F10s on CCR's roster. Somewhere in the past four years or so it ended up being sold to dealer Ozark Mountain Railcar, whose website shows that the unit has been very recently sold, presumably to Potomac Eagle. Thanks to Jonathan White for all the above information!]
