Seen at the Valley RR in 1991. This type of engine was used most often in industrial sites which had large quantities of pressurized steam or compressed air. The crew would "tank up" with the gas and work the train until the pressure dropped to a certain level at which point the crew would reconnect to the pipe and recharge the tank. These engines were very handy in areas where you didn't want sparkes and cinders floating around, or areas where there maybe a need for switching inside of buildings.I am told there is a restored fireless steamer at a mall complex in WestbrookCt. (Westbrook Mall). It may even be the same one.
