Railroad Velocipede
Black River & Western Railroad
Flemington-Ringoes, NJ
Used from about 1880 to early 1900 by track inspectors covering 25 miles per day right-of-way. Part of his chore was to replenish kerosene in signal lamps at switches and signal towers along the way. Machine was restored by John Bishop after being found in rotted and dilapidated condition in a farmer's barn.
