Photo of West Fitchburg siding
West Fitchburg siding

West Fitchburg, the siding there held empties for the paper mill traffic. This was taken from a Budd car on a Mass Bay RR enthusiasts trip thru the Hoosac Tunnel. I grew up about a 1/2 mile from here and watched the switcher pick out cars most summer mornings. The switcher is working over time today, seen on the left hand track. I've read over time this referred to as the mud cut.
