Photo of CSXT 9280
CSXT 9280

Built as CSXT 7627 then sold to Pan Am in 2017, this unit has made a full circle as the first Pan Am unit to be repainted and renumbered after going back to CSX once they bought Pan Am in June of 2022. Pretty nice to see a C40-8 in fresh paint on a Class 1 in 2022!

WAPO with CSXT 9280 - CSXT 6508 arrives at Rigby Yard with 35 cars and heads for Track 6 to yard their train of mostly loads.

So, when is CSX scheduled to tear down this tower...

When was the unit painted, since it doesn't look like super-fresh paint. Plenty of exhaust/oil/grease stains and dust!

A real keeper roster photo. Apparently the only unit to make the "round trip" paintwise CSX-PAR-CSX..Nice angle and lighting too.

Maybe next time 9280 makes it to Waterville, the shop will turn it into a heritage unit by painting a gray slash through the CSX logos and stenciling it for MEC! ;-)
