GMRC 405 @ Comerford Dam Road, BarnetHere was the 1:30 pm, "Fall for St. Johnsbury Foliage Train", with GMRC 405 backing south, and approaching the Comerford Dam Road crossing in Barnet, VT. A good portion of these rails parallel US Route 5, and certainly between St, Jay & McIndoes Falls offers some fantastic scenery with numerous bridges crossing over the Passumpsic River, like the bridge in the background. The overpasses deep in the background belong to Interstate 91.
Last time train rides were offered out of St.Johnsbury were in 2019, it was great the rides were well supported as the four excursions were sold out.
The lineup included the historic GMRC 405 on the south end, though the long hood is the true front of the engine. A passenger / baggage combination, two coaches, and VRS 201 on the north end. VRS 201 is also significant, the GP38-2 was purchased by Vermont Railways brand new, in 1972.
Always a great day to be in the N.E.K.!!
