The original Genesee & Wyoming (NY state) recently celebrated their 125th anniversary. They painted two units in the same 4 stripe scheme that their Alco switchers wore. C44-9 #1899 and GP38-2 #125 were the two heritage units. I suspect that the 1899 was possibly renumbered and sub-lettered for BERX, so I suspect you just bagged yourself a new G&W heritage unit!

Thanks for the information on the paint scheme, glad to see G&W embraces their heritage. I like it, hope to see it leading ED5 in the future.
