Photo of MECHANICVILLE, NY
MECHANICVILLE, NY

Westbound empty Bow coal train passing the closed Hill Yard on right and paper mill on left. Photo taken from Noonans Interlocking. Power: PC GP-40, U30B, BM GP-9. Hill Yard Yard was used to handle westbound blocks and NYC crews with NYC power would take their trains west to Dewitt. BM crews would deliver trains to Selkirk. "Noonans" was named after retired Mechanicville brakeman, yard foreman and trainmaster John Noonan. Noonans was new and located 40 car lenghts from XO to accommodate switcher moves pulling from BM class yard to new departure yard (former DH yard). This plan was part of Guilford System's main yard handling north, south, east, west traffic. Never materialized.....
