There will be no more runarounds here just north of the Fitchburg Road Ayer crossing of the Greenvile Branch AKA The Peterboro & Shirley that once extended to Greenville NH. The branch has been unused for years as evidence by good-sized trees growing between the rails farther south. Why this short section was removed is unknown unless the railroad needed some switch points or was furthering the case for abandonment. I believe the Commonwealth may have subsidized Guilford to rebuild this line to serve a then new building material transfer facility and another industry in the near vicinity that has a now-marooned tank car on its siding.
