Photo of The Other Side Of The River
The Other Side Of The River

The B&M had paired facilities on the east and west sides of the Connecticut River: North Walpole NH for Bellows Falls VT and the one pictured here Westboro NH for White River Junction VT. The Northern as it was called connected Boston and White River Junction via Concord NH. The last passenger train from Boston was in 1961 and diminishing freight service carried on north of Concord until that route was abandoned. Here three Alco Road switchers headed by B&M 1508 idle away outside the once busy roundhouse and engine servicing facility at Westboro waiting for their next freight run to Boston or down the Connecticut River Line.

Visitor Comments about this Photo:

B&M RS-3s at their best. Three unit consists with detail and paint as above were very welcome on the Conn River and Northern.
