Back in the early to mid-1980's Guilford held an open house for the - employ...

Back in the early to mid-1980's Guilford held an open house for the employees and general public at its Waterville, Maine shops. I spotted this home made sign along side of one of the shop buildings. Apparently there was still some company pride in the early days of Guilford ownership of the Maine Central Railroad. I also remember that because I was there way early and I got talking with some official who decided to let me get in line with the employees instead of waiting an hour or so for when the public would let in. By doing so I got a VERY NICE Maine Central tie that is green with yellow circles with pine trees in them and it is lettered "Maine Central", which I still have to this day in the original box! I guess I was in the right place at the right time!
