Maine Central #231 lies on its side after being involved in a
wreck on the B&M at Fitchburg, MA on January 25, 1987. This would be the end of the journey for the old "U-Boat" as she will be cut up on site.
The B&M 364 however will eventually be repaired a good number of years down the road and returned to service. BTW one of the number boards from the #231 hangs on my wall as a reminder of the photos I took of her and her sisters.
