MEC # 516 at Wilton, Maine 1930 Another eBay find. Check out the signal above the smoke box. The Wig-Wag I've heard of but the row of lights is new to me. Did they all flash at once or in a sequence? Robertson sez this was built by ALCO in 1916.
--> Lots of email on the wid/wag. Rob Butler summed up best by: "The lights went one at a time in sequence from right to left and back to simulate the swinging of a conductor's lantern." /DL
--> And research by Steve Klare thru the Wilton Historical Society, indicates that the train has just arrived from Farmington and is headed towards Jay. This ROW is now a rail trail. The building in the back ground was known as 'Dryden depot.' /DL Unknown photographer 1930. Added to the photo archive by David Larrabee, October 30, 2003. Railroad: Maine Central.
