B&M SPL on the Naugy-1

On June 1, 1982, the B&M took over operations of several ex New haven routes which had been operated by ConRail. These included the old Highland div between Hartford and Waterbury, the remnant of the Canal Line between Avon and Cheshire, and the north end of the old Naugatuck RR between Waterbury and Torrington. To celebrate the beginning of service, the B&M ran a Special train , consisting of 2 D&H office cars and B&M GP-9 1707, from Waterbury to Torrington. The special is seen here approaching Watertown Jct. as it heads north just after departing Waterbury.

Photographed by BandAfan, June 1, 1982.
