On The Island Line.....

The Rutland Railway built the Island Line c 1900 connecting Burlington with the west. The highlight of the line was the 3 mile long causeway across Lake Champlain. Scrap marble was used for fill.
The line was abandoned in the early 1960s, never to see trains again.

Today one can hike/bike the line. Here it is on a bluebird Saturday morning. You can see it curving to the right and crossing right through the lake.
