Super Elevated Skeleton

Off of Cable Pool Road in Cherryfield, ME, this old warren truss bridge stands vigil to symbolize better days of the Calais Branch. Following the rails to the left foreground, the line did almost a full horseshoe on its way through town past such places as the old depot and Cherryfield Foods. The small yard would have been a good point for DESR passenger trains out of Ellsworth to turn back to Washington Junction, but DESR only got the ROW through WJ, leaving over 90 miles for the STC to someday have for their trail.
