Photo of The Abandoned P&NA RR
The Abandoned P&NA RR

The abandoned ROW of the old Pittsfield & North Adams RR, seen today looking north from Adams, Mass., towards North Adams. The ancient barn-like buildings are part of the Hoosac Valley Coal & Grain Co. complex. The track on this segment of the P&NA was removed in the late 1990s. A stub still leads out of the B&M (PAR) main at North Adams, to allow the local to service two or three customers in the town of Adams. A lime plant is the biggest customer. There is talk of turning the abandoned segment (seen here) into a paved rail
trail. Photo by John Bazan.
