This is sad

This is where the Lamoille Valley/ St.J&L.C. used to connect with the CP, and enter the yard in St. Johnsbury. The tracks are now long gone. Pretty soon there will nothing left to indicate this railroad ever existed. The building in the upper right is a former Ralston Purina facility. It has been closed for well over 40 years. The decline of the railroads mirrors the decline of manufacturing. Less than a mile down this abandoned line was a large Fairbanks Morse factory, where the platform scale was invented in the mid-1800's. The future will be interesting.
