Photo of High Hood, MEC 378 in Concord
High Hood, MEC 378 in Concord

Another shot of MEC 378 in Concord NH. Most GP40s were ordered with the standard low short hood, though some railroads at the time, preferred the high short hood version. Some high short hooded GP40s had dual control stands, and others built were operated with the long hood being the front of the engine to appease safety concerns.

The 378 was in Concord NH, with the crew getting ready to head south with about 10 cars.
