BO-1 at Mystic Jct

BO-1 MEC 345 clears up in old Yard 8 in Somerville, MA on their way to Salem/Peabody. What used to be a large hump/classification Yard has been downgraded to a single usable track, the \"Willey Track\". Also known as Mystic Junction, this area was once home to round-the-clock yard switchers, locals and road freights. This track has been out of service for a few months until the NH Route (Lowell Line) was swung over in order to repair the Washington St undergrade bridge.\r
\r
In the coming years, the Green Line Extension will run through this area closing yet another chapter on railroading in Boston. Notice one of the large intact light towers which once lit up busy Yard 8.
