P & L 1012 Alongside Scenic Road in Laconia

Here was a Scenic Railroad heading south alongside Scenic Road, just north of Weirs Beach in Laconia. On this open patch between the road, tracks and lake are some boat slips on the lake side of the tracks. The Centenary Ave crossing is just south of this location.

This was the 10:30 Winnipesaukee Scenic train, that departed south from Meredith Station. This train easily arrived in Weirs Beach before 11 to pick up passengers to continue on the journey south to Lakeport (Paugus) before heading north on the return trip.

P & L 1012 is a 1000 hp, SW1000, built in 1970 for Burlington Northern. Since September 2014, the 1012 has been the main road power for the Meredith based trains. In September and October, 1012 can be found pulling the Winnipesaukee Scenic's Meredith to Plymouth, Fall Folliage Specials.
